embracent donate to cancer central

by | Nov 25, 2019 | embracent news

embracent have recently formed an advisory board, made up of influential leaders in the technology space, CIOs and CFOs, and we regularly refer to them to ensure that our methodologies and tools are of the highest standard to allow us to continue helping business make better decisions for the future.

As part of this, the members of the board can choose to donate their fee they receive to Cancer Central instead and we are very proud to have just made a 4 figure donation to Cancer Central, all from the forfeited fees that members have chosen to donate to Cancer Central instead of retain for themselves.

About Cancer Central:

Cancer Central is a centralised resource; here to help you find services and support (such as helplines, counselling, insurance, skincare, respite, hospital taxi services, blogs, books and more; locally or online), all of which is specific to your cancer type. They are a new and growing platform and at the start of this journey. Over time, with the support of their growing community, they will become the go-to place to find cancer support.

An initiative & approach which was awarded Digital Leaders HealthTech Innovation of the Year 2019.

Why we have chosen to support Cancer Central:

A true Tech 4 Good initiative, Cancer Central is a real demonstration of a community coming together to build a much-needed resource for everyone affected by cancer. Cancer Central has partnered with leading corporates such as American Express & IBM and some of the sharpest minds in the tech start up / SME community. This pioneering ‘Human Open Source Model’, called cominovation (community + innovation) has seen companies donate over 25,000 hours from 200+ individuals and 30+ organisations with major contributions from TechFINUM, ROQ and Evouke. At embracent, we are all about embracing new technology to support the future and this is an example of the fantastic benefits that embracing technology can have for everyone.

Comments from Founder & CEO of Cancer Central:

embracent’s extremely kind donation will help fund core costs required in order to keep such an information service free to the public. In addition, part of the donation was used to help support an important Facebook and YouTube live stream discussion last week for our new CancerCentralTV channel called, ‘Supporting your loved one through cancer’.
